Pedestrian Music is a journal of my everyday life. It’s a reflection of my experiences and a playground for my imagination. The Pedestrian is also an artistic representation of walking with the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a beautiful relationship and journey that is a constant adventure and daily brings us to new and wondrous places in our world, in our hearts and in our minds.
Find (The Pedestrian Theme): This song is about a goose and was actually the song that started the idea for Pedestrian music. I was walking to work on a beautiful, cool fall morning and I saw this little goose flying overhead, he seemed a bit frantic and he was squawking as he flew. He was alone so I automatlcy thought that he might have gotten separated from his flock. I started to think of how he must have woken up a bit late and his family had already left, he was now on a desperate pursuit to “Find” his way home. I related it to my life and how we are all trying to find our way home. I have found it in God. This song became the pedestrian theme because it was the first song but also there is something about the tune that describes how I often feel. Don’t worry, in the end the little goose finds his family:)
Music Box: Just a fun little song about a music box…
Flying: This song is about the sensation most all of us have dreamt about. I think we all might relate to the longing to fly like birds so effortlessly do every day.
Walking: This is a tune about the welcomed routine and repetition of walking. The interesting thing about walking is that it is repetitious but at the same time the surroundings are constantly changing. I love walking, it is one of the greatest joys of life.
Shimmer: I wrote the three short poems in this song, read beautifully by Vicky. I named it Shimmer because that was the word that the sound of this song evoked.
Prayer for Lydia: Lydia is Luke Flowers’ baby girl. There were some complications with her birth because she was so anxious to grace us with her beautiful little presence that she came very early. There where many potential problems with a little one coming out so soon. LF gave me the call and I started praying like crazy. At the time, I was working on this piece for Stephen Vidano. I prayed all day as I made this track so I called it prayer for Lydia. I feel it also some how emotionally ended up feeling how I did praying for her or maybe I just associate it with it. Lydia is healthy and beautiful. I thank God who answers our prayers.
Malfunctioned Space Suits: This song is a prayer as well. The Malfunctioned Space Suits represent our bodies. I often feel like I was not made for this world. Sometimes living on earth feels like we are stranded but through our line of communication with God and the aid that He gives, we are sustained. I daily request assistance and He daily deploys our rescue mission through His Spirit.
Phone Home: Phone Home is also a metaphor for prayer so like the previous song, it portrays a message sent home and we are always heard. (I also love E.T., Spielberg and one of my heroes, John Williams.)
In The Saucer With The Lady In The Water: As I was creating this song, I had the score to LITW by James Newton Howard sitting on my desk beside my midi keyboard. I imagined taking a cruse in a flying saucer with the lady in the water. Just a fun galactic voyage I was imagining. I did some cuts on this one and used the voice of my good friend Cliff for the "Yeah!" vocal drop. Thanks bro:)
Manor on the moon: I have had this obsession with an instrument called the Theremin. I had always heard this instrument in scores but one day got really interested in its history and use in so many of the classic Sci-Fi pictures. Among it’s most prominent appearances is the way the legendary innovator Bernard Herrmann used it in The Day The Earth Stood Still. I have a real Moog Theremin but I used a software version for this piece because it’s not the easiest thing to play, in fact is an amazing skill. There is kind of a small story unfolding in these last few songs. I phone home, get in a saucer and split from earth ending up in a manor on the moon. It's such a lovely summer day on the moon, now what would make it perfect would be some blue moon lemonade!
Blue Moon Lemons Make Great Lemonade: Um… just total fun. I love it cause I can go anywhere through music and what else would I do but travel to the moon and drink blue lemonade?:)
Found (The Pedestrian Theme): This is a variation on the Pedestrian Theme. It’s called Found because I have found the way home through Christ.
Thanks for reading, it's been a pleasure sharing with you. -LA:)
